About Us

We are a group of ordinary people who live on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia.
We welcome refugees and support and advocate for asylum seekers.
The Mid North Coast Refugee Support Group was founded in 2011 by Krissa Wilkinson, Phoebe Crane and former Burmese refugee Tin Hta Nu, and is based in Port Macquarie.

We are a diverse non-partisan group of ordinary Australians concerned by the persistence of racial prejudice in our society and the inhumane treatment of asylum seekers by the Australian government.
The MNC Refugee Support Group aims to:
Educate the local community and dispel existing myths about asylum seekers
Provide a voice for a welcoming attitude to refugees
Advocate for humane conditions and treatment of people from refugee background
     Assist people from refugee background
     Support projects which assist refugees
     Long term: - settle families
                 - make the Hastings a refugee welcome zone.
What can I do?
There are many small things you can do to support refugees - you can write to someone in detention to let them know they are not forgotten, you can write to government or your local member, you can support local events and fundraisers. Read more ...
