Vigil for refugees - Port Macquarie 7/9/15

THE Mid North Coast Refugee Group will hold a vigil at the Town Green jetty from 5.30pm on Monday September 7, 2105 in response to the heartbreaking photo of Aylan Kurdi, a young Syrian boy who was found drowned on a beach in Turkey.
It's a reminder to all of Australia to act with humanity and compassion regarding refugees because we all live on the one planet.
Everyone is welcome.

Local knitters excel

The Kendall Craft Group has been knitting to support the Knitting the Future community arts project. These fabulously warm and cozy items will eventually make their way to help keep Syrian refugees displaced by war warm.
Come to Port Macquarie Library on June 20 to see the knitted items and witness the portrait artists at work.
There will be a free morning tea, and the work will be on display for the rest of the week as part of the Mid North Coast Refugee Support Group's celebrations for Refugee Week.
It's not too late to be part of the project either as a knitter or artist. Contact Krissa Wilkinson on 0429 854 733.

Note: A Chai Tent for Nepal event will be held at Wauchope Arts Hall from 6pm that night. Hot soup, cake and drinks will be available, and a show featuring a talented line up of local musicians will kick off at 7pm. Entry by donation - a fund raiser for OXFAM’s Nepalese earthquake appeal.
